Teaching high school students, you never know what you're going to hear. Oh the things I have to deal with...
Boy student: "Mrs. Richey, I know I did really good on this practice test. I'm going to be your first 100."
Me: "Is that so? Well, let's just see."
(We go over the correct answers.)
Boy student: "Ah, I only missed the ones I misunderstanded."
Misunderstanded? Really? And he was serious! Claims he's never heard the word misunderstood. Oh dear me....we're in ninth grade, folks.
I am totally loving this. I work with high school kids and I am constantly amazed at how much they DON'T know, how little vocab/grammar they have been taught. It is scary!
ReplyDeletehaha... I bet he knows how to spell independent! Rappers should make more spelling songs.
